Bagel buoy boy – Summertime swimmer art

A bagel made to look like it's a person in an intertube raft buoy. Legs and arms made of cream cheese with red pepper flippers, green pepper sunglasses, cheese hair, red pepper snorkel

Now that I’m really inspecting and admiring this, the cream cheese does look a little gross, eh? Ah well, it’s still awesome!

Also, the recipe suggests adding nutella to the cream cheese for a darker skin complexion. I’m not sure I would’ve considered doing that at all, but I love the idea. <3

….and there’s the realization yet again that the simplest things make me giddy. To be sitting at my computer, smiling at a screen while I type, at the thought of adding chocolate to make a cream cheese swimmer a more accurate color for some people? Uh, yeah, I might have issues. Oops.

What do you do when you’re both hungry and cold? Nuggie to the rescue!

Snuggie made of chicken nuggets - Nuggie

If you’ve been with me for a while, you know that one of my biggest site boosts (on QJ) came back when the Snuggie was introduced to our precious world….and it didn’t have a website. You know that I got a ton of traffic and lots of customer support questions after I wrote a quick post talking about how cult-like and stupid it was…..and it’s where Google pointed everyone. You know how ridiculous that is.

And if you haven’t been with me for a while, well, now you know. :P

The Snuggie, no matter how silly or randomly iconic it is for our generation, will always have a very strange soft spot in my heart.

Which means a food-related picture of the Nuggie makes me giggle a little more than the average person would.

Er, well, I probably giggle more anyway, right? So it makes me giggle even MORE than expected, because awww, snuggies….

Chocolate ice cubes – Spice up and choclify your drink

Chocolate ice cubes for cold chocolate milk with coffee or slushie

Oh yes they did. At first, I just thought it was a clever way of making chocolate milk. It’s definitely a great way to keep the milk cold all the way to the bottom instead of making it halfway through a glass and realizing it’s room temperature.

Instead, though, this isn’t just chocolate. This particular variety has dark chocolate and instant coffee with vanilla milk for a sweet treat instead of plain ol’ chocolate milk. It was also mentioned to play around with other ingredients like pepper for a kick of spice. Yum.

Chocolate ice

  • 200ml milk
  • 50ml water
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee (optional)
  • 70g dark chocolate (66%)

Milk with Vanilla

  • 600ml milk
  • 60g sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod

Full instructions for making each are at The Mixer. If Google doesn’t automatically translate it for you, there’s an option on the right-hand side to put it in English.
