Don’t let the Love Bugs bite

Pink marshmallow pops that look like aliens with gumdrop arms and candy eyes with sprinkles

These were great back at Valentine’s Day, but even after the fact, I can see them making adorable little Martians. Can you picture them in green?

Dip them in chocolate first like I did with these marshmallow pops and the kids will go even crazier. Well, maybe that’s not such a good thing after all, but at least the treats will be adorable.

Chocolate pizza – The works, please!

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

They way to mine? Well, I don’t know if there *is* a way. I do know that food will get you major brownie points, though. Mmm, brownies….

No, focus! Chocolate. Pizza. Chocolate pizza. Mmm….

Chocolate rice krispy-like crackle crust. Chocolate discs of pepperoni. White chocolate mushrooms. chocolate green peppers. Chocolate cheese drizzle. Oh, and some nuts….which go perfect with, mmm, chocolate. :P

Where was I going with this? Um. *Rereads* Oh right, how to get brownie points with me. Mmm, brownies…  I love food, but I have a special place in my stomach heart for chocolate. And we all know how I love playing with my food, food art, funky creations, etc, as evidenced by this site if nothing else, right? So a chocolate pizza like this makes my creative food loving side chow down swoon.

Anyway, before I end up crossing out all of my thoughts, you should see a few more pictures.

It even came in a pizza-like box with a flip top, but I apparently don’t have a full picture of it. :(

I tried slicing it like a pizza, too, but it had been in the refrigerator and it caused the chocolate to crumble. Mom suggested I knock the chill off it a bit so it wasn’t as hard to eat, but a few seconds too long turned it into a chocolate puddle.

And the odd cheese drizzle ended up looking even more like mustard. I was hoping to make it look a bit more like cheese after that but well…

Yeah, at this point, I decided to just go back to eating my chocolate and leave the “playing with their food” to the professionals who crafted the chocolate pizza in the first place.

Mmm, chocolate pizza…

Cute, right?

I love edible art, but for me personally, that means I prefer the entire piece to be edible. The tophat and scarf being unedible, even though just a couple pieces that are easily removed, doesn’t really cut it for me.

The scarf would be pretty easy to replace. A straw/stick of licorice is the first thing that comes to mind, although you might have to use the pull-apart kind instead of old fashioned licorice. It’s much more flexible and you could pull off a few of the strands if it was too thick to hold right.

As for the hat, that’s a little trickier. At first, I thought maybe some thick fruit leather, but it might not hold its shape as well as I’d want. You could do it in two pieces, maybe, so for example, the bottom of the top hat could be part of an oreo and the top could be…what?

Or maybe like the witch hats I make. Did I ever post those? You spread a thin chocolate cookie dough on a silmat, bake for a few minutes, and then while they’re still warm, you bend them into the shape you want. Maybe something like that would do it.

Or, hmm, are there any other candies and such that would be the shape of a tophat? Or could be altered to work? These pilgrim hats use little Reese’s cups, so I’m trying to think of something similar. Any ideas?
