Facts About Food Friday – Heart cake without a special pan

Yay, Of Home and Muse had a picture example. Easy enough, right?

FAF #4

Who needs a heart-shaped cake pan if you have a square one and a circle one? Bake a cake in each, cut the circle one in half, turn the square so it’s facing like a diamond, and then add each circle half to the top sides. Yay, a heart!

I don’t bake cakes often, but I wish I would’ve thought of this one a long time ago. I’ve been lugging around a large awkward shaped heart cake pan for many years now, just because I thought maybe I’d need it at some point. It’s had a few uses over the years, like the time my mom made a Mickey Mouse cake using a heart as the base. But you have no idea how much of a pain in the butt it is to stack in a cabinet. It would never lay flat. Boo. :(

Toddler makes cheesecake look as easy as…pie? Woo!

If you haven’t already seen this, you’ve gotta watch it. It’s of a 2 year old making cheesecake.

Sure, it’s cute and all because most little kids doing just about anything can end up being “cute,” but I surprised myself by actually laughing out loud at around the 2:14 mark when she cracks open the second egg. Too funny, haha.

Cupcakes > bacon

In case anyone missed the official word, cupcakes are indeed better than bacon.

I know, I know, I never saw it coming either. How could bacon lose at anything given how absolutely insane it is on the internet? But really, it’s true. At the end of 2010, cupcakes finally defeated bacon. See for yourself.

More importantly, you should note that cupcakes were major underdogs, barely getting any traffic compared to the almighty bacon, but in the last few years, really upped their game and created a smashing rise in internet popularity.

Yes, this matter. The internet knows all. It’s the meaning of life. Cupcakes > bacon. Important stuff, people.

Oh, and before you tell me, “Wah, wah, bacon is starting to surpass cupcakes again, it must be superior”….keep this in mind: The search term “bacon” is also going to include all the “Kevin Bacon” seekers, too. How many people do you know with the last name “Cupcakes”? Exactly.
