Teenage chocolate ninja turtles – Heroes on a half spoon!
Nablopomo – Favorite candy – Chocolate
Adorable, no? As if candy turtles could get any better beyond their pecan caramely chocolatey goodness, then somebody had to go and add turtle heads.
That somebody was Robin Sue from Big Red Kitchen, and if you read her About Me section, you can get a great sense of how funny and awesome she is in both the kitchen and her blog writing. Here is where I tried to sum up the variety of recipes and stories she posts in a single line and well, it just wasn’t happening because there’s too much to say….so just go look. :P
And then she does stuff like this that really tickles my fancy. Do you see that tail?? Her tutorial gives the full low-down on how to do it and with even more adorable pictures than the teasers I gave you here. Look at those faces!
Oh, and if you have any nut allergies in your house, you’ll be happy to notice the pretzel leg alternatives. Yum.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious – A spoonful/cube of sugar?
Nablopomo – Favorite word
I had this post mostly written, tried to save it, and it went *poof!* all gone. And so, now you get the even quicker version…
I think most of these pictures came from Sugar Cubes, but it’s one of those ideas that people like to copy pictures, post them without credit, and eventually, the source is so diluted that you’re not quite sure where it all started…or how many people are doing it themselves now.
With Christmas right around the corner, I think these are a great idea for those “want for nothing, hard to buy for” people on your list. Know any coffee or tea addicts? This is a fun idea that hits that need for “something creative so you don’t have to buy yet another generic bath set.”
I also saw these featured at weddings and baby showers, so keep an eye out for other occasions where this idea could work.
Mushroom pancakes – Toadstool flapjack recipe?

Looks like a mushroom! I promise I won’t start singing again. At least not aloud. At least not here. :P
I was just going to share the picture of my little mushroom-shaped pancake droplet, but then it got me to thinking about what actual mushroom pancakes would be like. Turns out, I didn’t have to look far to find lots of yummy looking mushroom pancake/crepe recipes.
Try these stuff pancakes/krokiety, for example, from Coffee and Vanilla:

*drools* You can see the little pancake bubble pockets….yum.
Or these leek and mushroom crepes (gluten-free, to boot, if that’s up your alley):

Those two are both stuffed/filled varieties, but here’s some with the mushrooms right in it.

These rolls really caught my eye, too. I usually think of pancakes as being a sweet, breakfast dish with a liquid topping, whether syrup, smashed fresh fruit, or just loads of butter. These rolls are more savory, of course, but I still want to top them with maybe a mushroom soup gravy, of sorts, or make them more like enchiladas.

Maybe more like these, but they’re more crepe-like.

I saw several Korean Enoki Mushroom Pancake recipes, too, here, here, and here.

It’s amazing how a single pancake “flavor,” of sorts, can be translated so many different ways.
