Tempura shrimp with kitty heads
I’m sure there’s a pun in here about them being tem-purr-a….
The site I originally saw this on called them “sweet little tempura kitties,” but I actually find them a little creepy.
After all, why are we putting cat heads on shrimp? Is there something here that I’m missing? I love the rice cats and have made my own even, but to put them on shrimp? I’m not sure even I would do that.
Well I might *now,* but I wouldn’t have before….
Shrimp fried rice pineapple boats
In case you hadn’t noticed, I have this little thing for odd presentations. I like being able to eat out things that aren’t conventional dishes, too. I’m looking at you, avocados and watermelon bowls.
So obviously I want this, right? Not only does it sound delicious (hello chili mango sauce…how you doin’?), but it’s also in a fun, summery pineapple bowl. The only thing that might make it better is if it involved some awesome grill marks on the pineapple. Mmmmm.
Happy Sushi Day – Let’s celebrate with sushi cake!
Actually, the cake was used to celebrate a wedding with instead, but cake is cake and I’d totally eat that. I’m kinda surprised it wasn’t topped with more fish instead of duckies, though, like maybe these little guys:
But hey, maybe on 6 cups worth of sushi rice and 3+ pounds of fresh fish, maybe more fish is a little overkill, right?
