Buying fresh vs store bought – Pink vs brown paste

Which one of those looks more appetizing? If you’re a vegetarian or weirded out by raw meat, your opinion doesn’t count. :P Maybe “which one looks more real?” is the better question. You should be able to click the picture to get a larger view, but if not, here’s the link.
Either way, I couldn’t help but snap this picture of sauage one morning. I’d just had a fresh hog butchered, but wanted to finish up some already purchased sausage that I had, so I was going to combine the two.
It was really hard to want to eat the storebought paste after not only see how drastically different the colors were, but also that the glue on the right is roughly the same color as my kitchen counter. I don’t think that’s normal, heh.
There’s always one bad egg?

How is it that even though I check my eggs before buying them, I end up with funky eggs like this on a regular basis? Not only did it split the opposite directio than expected, but it also chipped away into an almost flower shape at the top…..and refused to crack any further without beating it against the counter, which meant I had no interest in even using it any more. :(
Scalloped potatoes – Not always smiley faces

Can you see it? How about with classic zoom power:

That’s a definite pouty face. In fact, I’d say somebody got a little collagen action going on to make that extra pouty. Mwah!
Okay, so those scalloped potatoes were absolutely delicious, especially in comparison to the lips above. :P My entire family loves the cheese to be burnt, but I prefer the cheesy, potato-y goodness underneath.
Want the recipe?
Scalloped Potatoes
Lots of potatoes
Lots of cheese
Lots of butter
Lots of onions
Lots of sliced, chopped deli ham
Little bit of milk
Layer them and bake for 45 minutes-ish or until the cheese is completely bubbly and turning black. Complicated, eh? :P
