How to flip food in a pan without a spatula

Flipping food in a pan is something all chefs do. It may look flashy but it has a purpose: to turn all food at once so it can cook evenly, a feat not accomplished with a spatula. ~About.com

For some people, this comes rather easily. Others require some practice or just never get it at all, after lots of food hits the floor and they finally give up.
For the rest of us, there’s this pan:
boomerang wok let's you flip food without a spatula
Okay, so that’s not exactly teaching you how to flip food without a spatula, but the boomerang wok would be a nice tool, no? It’d be awesome for flipping, but would be nice for simple shaking and stirring foods, too, without them flying out of the pan.
normal wok not good enough food falls flies out
This picture makes me feel really sad for the “normal wok.” It’s okay normal wok….we still love you.

Puzzle board cutting boards – Cut your bread and eat it too…with a glass of wine

Now this? This cutting board I think I can get behind. An individual piece is kind of small to cut on and yet, I actually have one that size that I use alll the time. And this one really does double as a serving tray…for each person, if you so choose. The wine glass in the puzzle piece interlocking slot is clever, transforming a multi-sized cutting board into fun dinner party plates.

They’re not exactly cheap at 26 bucks a board, but if you’re one to use them to their full potential, I doubt you’d be getting rid of them for a long, long time.

Cutting boards shaped like states – Patriotic or useless?

AHeirloom was featured on the Kitchn quite a while back and since then, I’ve seen them in a few other places. They sell lots of different state-shaped cutting boards for 38 bucks. They’re cool, but I can’t help but wonder how useful they really are.

I like that they’ve been portrayed as serving platters instead, but then, is it really worth it just to serve on? Where would one store something like this anyway? Won’t exactly stack nicely, huh?

On a side note, I do love the detailing on some of the boards. Can you see the heart in the lower right of the state above? You can place it where your own city is!
