Photobucket and Quirky Cookery image issues

my blog, QC site | October 18, 2010 | By

If you’re not seeing some of the pictures load here lately, you’re not crazy.

Well, you’re probably crazy if you’re here, but you’re not crazy because of the not seeing the images. Maybe I should’ve said “you’re not alone”? Hmm. ;) :P

Anyway, Photobucket has been having some issues lately and the best I can find online is that lots of people are having issues. It seems that it’s more likely to happen if you’re an international user. In general, the images will only appear broken for a few minutes, so although it’s a pain, just check back and do a hard refresh on the the page. Usually you’ll be able to see them at that point, but if not, I’m sorry. :( Hopefully PB gets its butt in gear soon and we won’t have to deal with this for long.

As a strange last resort, the main PB site is generally still working at the time and often the pictures that appear broken here and still in working order over there, so you could potentially sift through the QC PB albums. They’re organized reasonably well, but not perfect, as sometimes I upload pictures in the previous month’s album and then leave it there. :P

Can I come back now? Pfft! :P

my blog, QC site | September 8, 2010 | By

Alright guys, can I finally start writing again?  I sure hope so.  I even had a dream about Quirky Cookery the other night.  I’ll spare you the details.  A long story short, it’s about time I got back to this.  At this point, even if it means putting Quirky Jessi on hold, I think that’s what I should do.

I have soooo many pictures to share with you.  So many quirky things that I’ve been doing in the kitchen.  You have no idea.  I’ve even been messing with voice recognition so I can dictate what I’m doing while I’m cooking and forget to tell you guys things.  Crazy, I know. Now if only Firefox, ScribeFire, Photobucket, and my camera would cooperate.

Anyway, if I start slacking again, slap me or something. I keep kicking myself but it’s obviously not getting me anywhere. :P

Quirky Cookery — Let the Fun Begin!

QC site | July 1, 2009 | By

How it Began

Actually, the fun has been going on for as long as I can remember, but now it’s time to share. After all, half the fun of cooking is being able to share the results with others.

Before I can get to the quirkiness that goes on in my kitchen, though, I think an unwritten rule of blogging is that there has to be an introductory post (which I hate, but who am I to argue with the blogging gods?). So….

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Jessi. *insert many years of stories* When Messy Jessi grew up, she visited home and her little sister whined, “Why does Jessi get to play with her food, but I don’t??” To which the mother replied, “because she’s been playing with her food for years, and if she hasn’t stopped by now, she’s never going to.”

And I haven’t. In fact, that was the encouragement that made me play with my food even more. Come on, it’s fun, why not enjoy it? Now I cook my fair share of meals that could be deemed “plain,” I’m sure, and I live with a budget, so you’ll see no fancy equipment or expensive foods here. There’s no reason it has to be boring, though!

The Name

My main site is Quirky Jessi, where I feature lots of….well, quirkiness. Whether it’s a strange site, funky artistic style, or a weird product, it can be found there. So when I started this site, it was with the intent of the same atmosphere. I love having fun and thoroughly enjoy things that are out of the ordinary.

And well, cookery is pretty self-explanatory:

Cookery:
1
: the art or practice of cooking
2
: an establishment for cooking

What to expect

At least this is what I’m planning on having here. There’s no telling how it’ll actually turn out, but for now, I think it’s a pretty good view of what I’ll be posting.

  1. Recipes (of course)
  2. Pictures of silly dishes I make
  3. Funny stories from the kitchen
  4. Odd cooking products or tools
  5. Misc generic cooking site stuff
    (because it’s bound to happen)

Time to eat

Alright, that’s enough jibber jabber. Let’s eat!
