Roman candle cocktail for 4th of July
Reminder that this year’s NaBloPoMo theme on Quirky Cookery is “adults.” Content may not be appropriate for kids.
Roman Candle Cocktail
3 oz. Three-O Berry Vodka
½ Oz. Cranberry Juice
Dash of Grenadine
½ oz. Blue CuracaoShake vodka, cranberry juice and grenadine in a shaker with ice. Strain into martini glass. Pour Blue Curaçao gently down the side of the glass so it comes to settle on the bottom.
Yes, it’s November and I’m talking about the 4th of July. Remember this in 7-8 months when you’re planning an Independence Day party and you can thank me later. I figure it’s better late (early?) than never.
And I’m sure you could come up with a different name to use this pretty drink another time of the year. Cut the lemon zest to look like a bow instead and call it a Christmas present or something.
Bacon and eggs jello shots

- 1 cup water
- 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
- 1/2 cup salted caramel flavored syrup
- 1 cup bacon-flavored vodka, chilled
- 1/4 cup cooked bacon, finely diced
- Gummy fried eggs for topping
The full picture tutorial on how to make them is on WikiHow.
I really don’t recommend having these for breakfast every day, especially if you work outside the home. And please be careful if you’re an expert shot shooter…. You’re liable to choke on those little egg candies. Oops.
Also, is anybody else weirded out by the idea of bacon bits in jello? What a strange texture….
National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) – Adult Time
It’s November yet again and that means the blogging challenge to post every day for 30 days.
In the past, I have used it as a chance to run a theme month.
Last year was a drawing challenge prompt sheet. 2010 bought a bunch of weird food-related stuff. 2009 was all about gaming. And 2008 was quirky art over on Quirky Jessi. Yeah, I’ve been doing NaBloPoMo for a while.
This year, the theme is going to be “adult.” I have been toying with the idea of having a side site for quirky food that didn’t fit my PG-13 rule here. Namely, there is a lot of alcohol-related quirkiness that is sent my way, but because I want kids to be able to see this site, I don’t post it.
I don’t have the time to keep up with the sites I have, though, much less start another one, so I’m bending my own rules this month. I’ll still be avoiding content that wouldn’t be safe for work but if you tend to share ideas from my posts with your kids, this month will be the time to go back through the archives. Enjoy!
